I’m Steven Easley, and that is my wife Kenya. Together, with our daughter Azalea, dog Diesel, and cat King, we've decided to hang our hats in a home.
Our first home, is a 1948 _____ (someone help us with the actually name of the style) house located in Durham, North Carolina. When we purchased it in 2007, my wife had just giving birth to Azalea, and the 650 sq ft apartment wasn't going to cut it anymore. Now, having 1,440 sq. ft to play with immediately seemed like the perfect solution. The problem however; we didn't want a cookie cutter, and this historic home definitely showed its age, but we couldn't overlook the character and location. Armed with hours of HGTV, TLC, DIY network and lots of enthusiasm, we moved in immediately...
As of June 14, 2009, we honestly haven't done nearly as much as we would have liked, but the near months and years ahead look very promising. The list of what we have worked on... almost nothing!!! Actually, we've painted over and over again, in our dining room we've added a chair rail and molding around the a huge mirror that is across from our picture window, uncovered hardwood floors, got new gutters, new toilet, new front loading washer and dryer, and dug up most of the mosquito infested bushes.
We've always been inspired by others transforming their homes, so we've been attending the local home tours here in Durham. When we found Matt and Jessie's blog the day before the 09' Cleveland-Holloway Neighborhood Home Tour and it was the icing on the cake for us to get the engine going. There we received many new aspirations, including a newly recommended contractor, creative new DIY projects to tackle, and the wonderful idea of posting it all on Blogspot. Now it’s just a matter of finding enough time in the day to keep up with our ever growing to-do list while keeping you posted along the way. We hope you come to enjoy our continued adventures and probably some misadventures in decor and home improvement. Stay tuned…
